XXVI Flamenco Festival

The Flamenco Festival is a festival dedicated exclusively to flamenco that is held in Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia) every year between the months of February and March. During the celebration of this festival, the soul and passion of flamenco ignite what is an everyday pastime in the city. The festival includes singing, dancing and flamenco guitar performances, as well as courses and other outreach activities in theaters and flamenco clubs. Billed as "flamenco and Spanish dance," the Festival's central theme is dance. In addition to providing a showcase for this artistic genre, the festival also anticipates innovative creations and the creative fusion of artists exploring new aesthetic and expressive avenues for 21st century flamenco.

XXVI Edition of the Festival

The Jerez Festival attracts some of the best known national and international flamenco "cantaores" and "bailaores" (flamenco dancers). Both artists and flamenco apprentices from all over the world come to Jerez at this time to participate in specialized workshops given by the best flamenco teachers. For tourists, the main attraction has always been the extensive program of shows. Previous editions have included artists such as Antonio Reyes, Belén López, Diego Carrasco, Manuel Valencia, Rafael Campallo and Ramón Trujillo. The Festival also encourages greater participation of flamenco beginners, with dance and flamenco skill courses.

After two years without being held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Festival de Jerez returns this year with a wide proposal in terms of programming - see here -. The XXVI edition will take place between February 17 and March 5, 2022. An edition in which the event, focused on flamenco and Spanish dance, "will be able to show all its artistic potential and its great convening power before a national and international audience". Internationally renowned artists such as Farruquito, María Terremoto, José Cortés or the Spanish national ballet group will perform at the Villamarta Theater.
